WhatIsInsights is an independent online publication founded in early 2024, starting at a kitchen table in Austin, Texas. We cover the topics you actually search for — business, technology, legal, real estate, wellness, celebrity, and more — in plain, direct language that treats you like an adult.

We’re not affiliated with any media group, funded by a single advertiser, or chasing viral traffic at any cost. We’re a focused team of 14 writers and editors who care about getting things right. Our mission is simple: give you clear, trustworthy answers without the fluff.

James spent a decade in digital publishing watching the same pattern: articles written for search rankings instead of readers. One morning, after clicking through yet another 2,000-word guide that hid its answer under six paragraphs of fluff, he’d had enough. He built WhatIsInsights in early 2024, starting from his kitchen table in Austin.

With over 9 years of experience managing editorial teams at mid-size publications, he knew exactly what not to do. Today he oversees editorial direction, content standards, and the site’s growth — and he still personally reads every complaint email.

Every article on WhatIsInsights follows the same process. No exceptions.

  • We write what you search for. Our topics come from real questions people type into Google, not from a dusty editorial calendar.
  • We do the homework first. Facts are checked before we write, not after. If a source feels shaky, we dig deeper.
  • No jargon, no filler. We give you the answer right away, in plain English. No rambling introductions.
  • A second editor reviews everything. Every article gets a fresh pair of eyes for accuracy, clarity, and completeness before you see it.
  • You’ll always see who wrote it and when. No anonymous posts. Every author stands behind their work.
  • We keep articles alive. If something changes, we update the post. You won’t find outdated advice lingering here.

We don’t publish an article unless it genuinely answers your question better than what already exists. That’s the only standard that matters here.

Our Content Standards

  1. No Fluff: Every sentence has to earn its place. If it doesn’t help you, it gets cut.
  2. Author Accountability: The writer’s name is on the article, so they stand by it — and we’ll hold them to it.
  3. Source Transparency: We link to our sources so you can check the facts yourself.
  4. Honest Corrections: Mistakes get fixed quickly and openly. We don’t bury them.
  5. AI Disclosure: We use AI tools to help with research and drafting, but a human editor has final say on every article.
  6. No Paid Opinions: Advertisers and affiliate partners don’t influence what we write. Our recommendations are ours alone.
